When a pregnancy comes as a surprise to you, feeling anxious and uneasy is perfectly normal. You get to hear a lot from the people around you and wonder whether what you hear is true or misinformation. At Heart Choices, we will help you find the right way out of your situation without any pressure. You can think about parenting, adoption, and abortion at your own pace with the facts you need.

“What should I do now?” is the question that is asked by a lot of women. That is why we want you to know that there is no single answer to this question. Each case is different. If you want to make the right choice, you deserve to be informed about the situation and know where you can get some support. One of the most universal ways to get informed and find support is options counseling. You will meet with our client advocate for about 45 minutes, during which you will discuss the possible options that you have. We will walk you through the outcomes and resources available to you. We are here to clarify things, not to talk you into anything.

Parenting

You may want to have a child, but the time seems inappropriate now. This feeling is frequent among women who have found out an unexpected pregnancy. Parenting is a huge step, so it is better to know what support you may receive. At Heart Choices, we offer free parenting classes as part of our Earn While You Learn program. You will take a series of short courses related to newborn care, breastfeeding, and infant safety, receive the vouchers, and buy stuff like diapers, car seats, and clothes in our boutique. Everyone can take part in the program regardless of income. We also have our fatherhood program as men go through some challenges at this phase as well.

Adoption

Women choose adoption to provide their baby with a stable family or in case they are not ready to become mothers for various reasons. However, in the past, adoption had a very different meaning than what people think of it today. The choice is between open and closed adoption nowadays. Open adoption means that the birth parent stays in touch with the child and adopting parents, while closed adoption does not provide any direct contact. It’s entirely your decision to choose what’s better for you. Meanwhile, our organization can assist you with trustworthy agencies specializing in adoption, giving you all the necessary information they need and helping you through the legal steps. It is a brave path to take.

What about abortion?

Many women also want the facts about abortion, starting with which methods are available at different stages of pregnancy. One option is medication abortion, also known as the abortion pill, which can be administered up to the 10th week of pregnancy and involves taking two sets of pills at home. We can provide you with accurate information about abortion itself, including the process, its implications, as well as side effects like heavy bleeding and cramping. We can also talk through the emotional side, since both relief and grief are normal.

What if I Regret Taking the Abortion Pill?

At Heart Choices, we can assist patients who have started the abortion pill process but want to stop it. We can offer you the opportunity to contact the Abortion Pill Reversal Network.
